Farewell to Ms Sansom!

Room 16 and Room 8 students joined together to present Ms Sansom with a thrilling song at her farewell assembly. The students enthusiastically sang improvised words to the tune of the Flintstones, and proved to Ms Sansom how much she will be missed! Stayed tuned for the footage of our song... we wish Ms Sansom all the best for her new endeavors!

Swimming!

In week 10 we participated in swimming lessons at the Parks Pool. We had a fantastic time swimming in the deep part of the pool with life jackets and doing the chicken dance on the last day.

Light Challenge!

Last week we were challenged to make light travel around an object. Each group was given the following resources for the challenge:
- a torch
- a mirror
- a book
- a large sheet of paper

The first step was to draw a ray diagram on the large sheet of paper. This needed to illustrate where we thought the light was going to go, and how we could reflect it off the mirror to make it go around the book.

Stay tuned for our thoughts and photos from the experiment!

What other objects are able to reflect like a mirror?

Metal, water, gold, diamonds, rings, glass, whiteboard and computer screens.

Light is FANTASTIC!

In Science this term we are focusing on light. We individually collected our thoughts to the following 5 questions:

- What things give us light?
- How does light help us to see?
- What is a shadow?
- How far does light travel?
- How does light travel?

In groups we categorised and summarised the class responses.
We have posted our 'wonderings' on our classroom blog below.
Have a look to see what we came up with.

What things give us light?

- The sun give us light
- Electric wires which carry electricity to the item that lights up with energy
- The chemicals in glow sticks
- Light bulbs
- Fire
- A torch
